Telephoned the Secretary of Lodge Ku-Ring-Gai and confirmed that they were meeting on Monday 17th March 2008 at 1930hrs. Was cordially invited to attend and provided with instructions to the Turramurra Masonic Centre.

Owing to the fact that I had never been to this Temple, I allowed enough time in case of wayward driving skills. As it transpired, arrived at 1830hrs and had time to reacquaint myself with the charge I’m delivering shortly…1st Degree Working Tools.

The Secretary and various Officers started arriving shortly after and introductions and greetings were subsequently made. A number of the Brethren were actually in attendance at Gosford on Saturday Night and it just goes to show how small a world it really is.

The work of the evening was the passing of a young Brother to the 2nd Degree and the Brethren performed the relevant charges to a high standard. The not so experienced are guided and assisted by the experienced and the overall positiveness and earnest desire within the Lodge, makes for a special occasion.

I believe the young Brother will remember his 2nd Degree passing in more ways than one. He had been battling with the flu for some time and coupled with a heavy study load, he felt quite feint towards the end of the work and needed to sit.

After the completion of the ceremony the DGIW was welcomed once again and after various notices, the DGIW introduced the DGIW Elect, who subsequently stood and acknowledged the mention. The DGIW left the Lodge and after General Business the Lodge was closed in Peace, Love and Harmony and we ventured to the south.

Congratulations were given to the newly passed Brother, who unfortunately could not stay for the South.

The quality of the South was exceptional and how they provide such a feast for such a nominal fee is beyond me.  Toasts, speeches and jokes were the order of the evening and I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the company of the new Brethren that I sat with in Lodge as well as in the South.

I left shortly after the JW Toast and had a pleasant drive back to the Central Coast. Realistically, the drive is only about an hour and it allows you to go over the events of the evening or if you are real demented, practice your upcoming charges. I decline to mention what my choice was.

I look forward to returning to Lodge Ku-Ring-Gai in due course.
